Modifying Your Procreate Brushes

“Modifying Your Procreate Brushes“ is a one evening class held on Thursday November 17th, 2022. This is an in-person class taught at The Drawing Studio. Some Procreate experience is useful for taking this class.

Many of the digital brushes included in Procreate may have features turned on that make the brush misbehave when compared to your expectations. In this class, we will examine some of the issues that you may have with the brushes and how to improve their behaviors.

Making Stamp Brushes in Procreate

“Making Stamp Brushes in Procreate“ is a one evening session class on Thursday evening October 13th, 2022. This is an in-person class taught at The Drawing Studio. Some Procreate experience is useful for taking this class.

Stamp brushes in Procreate are the digital equivalent of rubber stamps and are a fun way to reuse designs and shapes. Unlike traditional rubber stamps, these Procreate stamp brushes can be dynamically resized and you never drag your sleeves across an ink pad.

Creating Art with Procreate

Barry Dodge is offering a beginners Procreate class in September - “Creating Art with Procreate”. This is a short four session class - Thursday evenings September 8th, 2022 through September 29th - for new users of Procreate, or a good review if your Procreate skills need polishing. This is an in-person class taught at The Drawing Studio.

Learn how to use the Procreate application on your iPad to create art, modify traditional physical art, and explore your options for printing your digital creations.

Each week the class will drive into a specific topic of using Procreate. Class members will also be able to take advantage of optional videos to reinforce concepts between classes. Office hours will also be available on-line for additional questions.

The Tucson J proudly presents Beauty of the Sonoran Desert; an opening exhibit for the 2022-2023 Fine Art Gallery Season. The exhibit is a celebration of the diversity of the Sonoran Desert, and includes abstract and representational interpretations of the subject in a variety of media. Most pieces are for sale. Stop by and peruse the first show of our Fine Art Gallery season!

Opening reception, Sunday August 14th, 2022. Enjoy live music, a refreshment, and the company of other art appreciators in our community.

Procreate on the iPad: Using Patterns & Textures

Barry Dodge will be offering a new class in Procreate at The Drawing Studio in April - “Procreate on iPad: Using Patterns & Textures”. This will be a short three session class for intermediate users of Procreate digging deep to use the advanced tools such as masks and blend modes to add patterns and textures to your Procreate paintings.

The third session on April 21st will sort through various ways of creating textures and patterns within Procreate, as well as using digital patterns found elsewhere. The following illustration was created using digital patterns both within Procreate as well as patterns created outside of Procreate..

Procreate on the iPad: Using Patterns & Textures

Barry Dodge will be offering a new class in Procreate at The Drawing Studio in April - “Procreate on iPad: Using Patterns & Textures”. This will be a short three session class for intermediate users of Procreate digging deep to use the advanced tools such as masks and blend modes to add patterns and textures to your Procreate paintings.

The second session on April 14th, will explore creating textures using traditional water-based media. This is a chance to bring any cheap watercolors or inks and a supply of paper to class and fling ink and color onto paper. Old clothes or a smock is strongly suggested for this session. The textures in the illustration below were created using Arches watercolor paper and a various watercolors and inks.
