Travel Sketchbook meets 30 Day Challenge

I recently returned from a 17 day vacation, escaping the desert heat for a train trip up the west coast of the United States. However the same month (June 2022) I was also working on a thirty day challenge to sketch each day prior to looking at email. This mini-challenge was instigated by Gail Sibley’s Ignite! program - https://gailsibleyartschool.com

We were traveling light, so the iPad was going to be my sketchbook for this journey. Flying into San Diego we overnighted and briefly explored the city, walking right into a Dick Blick Art Supply store. A few more provisions were purchased, but most of the drawing was completed on the iPad (or a mix of analog and the digital.)

Most of the work was strictly monochrome grayscale. Procreate’s round brush - slightly modified - was by brush of choice for the sketching and fill work.

Summary

A great trip via Amtrak to visit many friends in many places, with side trips to Lake Tahoe and Bandon. Learned that about five hours is the maximum time I want to spend on a train, and overnights should best be spent in a hotel.
