“Adjusted” Digital Color Wheel

Adjusting the hue segments to approximate a traditional pigment based model. These numeric values are used in my digital etudes when working with color schemes such as compliments, analogous, split compliments, and triads.

The traditional pigment based color wheel with degree markings to pick associated digital hues.

The degree values in the above illustration are what I use when experimenting with traditional color relationships on the computer.

Note that the red to yellow segment now spans a third of the color pie - even thought the degree markings only cover a range of 60º. The greens and blues are back in their familiar places.

You may want to experiment with adjusting these values, especially for the red violet slice. Is a hue of 330º better than 320º?

A second area to consider is where do the boundaries occur between the segments? When does blue turn into blue green?

if there is a math wiz reading this, is there an easy function to smoothly map between the two color wheels? I presently use a lookup function to map between the two models.
