Digital Color Wheel

What happens when the hue segments are 30º apart when working with a light based - rather than pigment based model?

Reds through yellow are squished into the first 60º of the color wheel.

You may to to experiment with blending these compliments in a digital paint application. Try painting with red at full opacity, and then changing your brush to 50% opacity and painting with cyan. What color do you get.

There is nothing wrong with this scheme, as you are painting with light on a screen rather than with pigment. However it is good to have this tucked away somewhere in your brain just in case blending two colors on the screen does not have a traditional media result.
